Dj Greg Downey
Gregarious!
Belfast-born Greg began DJing over six years ago, shortly before he decided to pack up and move to Ibiza for the summer with his records. While playing at a dingy San Antonio after-party, he was spotted by the promoter of Gatecrasher, who was so impressed he asked him to play the following week at Space. Since then, Greg has worked hard to establish himself firmly among the best young DJs in the UK.
Greg developed a taste for tougher electronic dance music from a young age and this is reflected in his unique style, which combines underground and uplifting trance with elements of techno. This is all rolled into an explosive performance, which sees him using 3 CDJs, Serato Scratch Live, Pioneer DJM 800 and EFX 1000 to devastating effect.
In 2007, Greg attracted the attention of John Digweed’s cheque book with his remix of ‘Heaven Scent’, which was then used on Cream’s Ibiza 2007 compilation and championed by Eddie Halliwell on his Radio 1 show. Before that, Greg enjoyed huge success with his own track, ‘Vivid Intent’, which Armin Van Buuren picked as his ‘tune of the week’ on his State Of Trance radio show. Now, as well as continuing to release consistently solid tracks, Greg has turned his hand to mixing his own totally live compilation album on the influential Discover label. ‘Live As…’ is due for release in early 2008.
In 2006, Greg was signed to the PFAgency, and he has been super busy ever since, spinning to packed crowds at Lush, Slinky, Inside Out, Goodgreef, Passion, Gatecrasher, The Gallery, Planet Love Festival and a host of others further afield such as Canada, Shanghai, Poland and Indonesia. You can also catch him spinning at Godskitchen’s massive New Year’s Eve party at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium – what a way to round off a brilliant year!
At only 24 years old, Greg’s many achievements, alongside his outstanding technical ability and passion to succeed will make him a household name in 2008.
