“Grindr’s 10 Commandments for Gay Pride.”

With Pride season upon us and celebrations occurring worldwide, Grindr – the largest, farthest-reaching and widest-ranging of any gay mobile social app – has decided to come up with “Grindr’s 10 Commandments for Gay Pride.”

Pride was created to take a positive stance against discrimination and celebrate the LGBT community, but you don’t want to take it too far. That said, Grindr wants to remind the community about what Thou shall or shall not do this Pride season.

1. Thou shall not be a hot mess
Pride is about having fun, but don’t go overboard. If you’re drinking alcohol be    sure to drink a glass of water between cocktails – stay hydrated, stay classy!
2. Thou shall not cock-block
Bros before bros … wait. If you’re looking to hook up with someone new, make sure it’s not the man your friend has been eyeing.
3. Thou shall dance like a Drag Queen
More than likely you’ll hear the classics at Pride – Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Katy Perry – don’t be afraid to let the music take over and dance like no one is watching (although we all are).
4. Thou shall step out of your comfort zone
Get to know someone new or try something new. March in the parade, dance with a stranger, wear chaps! Even if you don’t like it or get uncomfortable, take a deep breath and enjoy the fact that you tried something new.
5. Thou shall meet thy neighbour
Fire up your Grindr and Grindr Xtra app, we guarantee everyone will be on it. Chat, flirt and meet with someone in real life, like that guy you’ve been chatting up for 2 weeks! (Make a move already!) After all, that’s why we created Grindr!
6. Thou shall share the experience with others
Pride events were created to increase LGBT visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity. Share your experience on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. And, feel free to use the #grindrpride hash tag.
7. Thou shall spread the love safely
At Grindr, we understand that it can get crazy at Pride. If you decide to hook up with someone, just remember to use a latex condom (which we all know, can greatly reduce the risk of an STD).
8. Thou shall be prepared
Pride events can last for days! So be prepared with the essentials – sunscreen, water, phone charger, chap stick, condoms – you see where we’re going with this?
9. Remember the essence of Pride and keep it sacred
As the great prophet Madonna once sang, “Express yourself.” So do just that – sing loudly, live fiercely, and remember that no colour is ever too bright. The floats, the pageantry, the outfits and the people who are not ashamed of who they are – take it in and enjoy yourself!
10. Thou shall honour thy community
The genesis of Pride is to take a positive stance against discrimination and violence toward LGBT community and promote self-affirmation, dignity and equal rights. Keep this in mind as you celebrate and think about ways you can give back to our community all year round.
