Readers’ Awards
Coronation Street star Charlie Condou and actress Sophie Ward announced the winners of the annual Out In The City and g3 magazine Readers’ Awards in a glittering ceremony recently.
The winners, who were chosen by the readers of both magazines, were commended for having a positive impace on the LGBT community within the past year.
Those who collected an award at the Landmark Hotel in London included Clare Balding and the fabulous Stephen Fry, both who won for Broadcaster of the Year.
Gok Wan won the Out In The City Celebrity of the Year, while the readers of g3 chose actress/singer, Heather Peace.
Community groups were celebrated on the night with the LGBT charity Stonewall picking up 5 awards. Best event of the year went to Manchester Pride and Brighton Pride.
Reflecting the importance of gay people in the workplace, the Royal Bank of Scotland and The Co-operative Group’s LGBT employee networks scooped awards. Whilst Inspirational Role Model went to Royal Bank of Scotland’s Andi Keeling, Director of Women’s markets and Anthony Watson Managing Director and Chief Information Officer of Barclays.
The awards were headline sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, and supported by Barclays, Dawson Cornwell, the Royal Air Force and The Want to be a Parent Show.
