That Condom Moment
To mark the Terrence Higgins Trust 30th anniversary a short film has been made to further promote safe sex. It shows a number of couples – both gay and straight – furiously tearing off each other’s clothes in preparation for sex. The camera then switches to ultra slow motion, as an uncomfortable voiceover reveals what’s really going through the couples’ heads as they desperately attempt to evaluate the risk of unprotected sex. The clip concludes with the message ‘For safe, worry free sex, use a condom’.
There are currently 100,000 people living with HIV in the UK, one in four of whom remain undiagnosed. In 2011, there were almost 427,000 new cases of other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in England alone. Young people aged 15-24 remain one of the groups most at risk of STIs in the UK.
