Glam girl band The Saturdays will strut their stuff as the Nightingale main stage headline act at Birmingham Pride.
Bosses at the iconic city nightclub say they are thrilled to have secured one of the UKs biggest pop acts for the event which attracts thousands of visitors to the city every year.
Lawrence Barton, Festival director, said: ‘We’re delighted to finally be able to announce that we’ve managed to secure The Saturdays for The Nightingale Main Stage to headline Saturday 2 June.
“It’s taken a little while to negotiate and we’ve been on tenterhooks for the past week or so.
‘However, we’ve finally signed the contract and they’re now 100% confirmed. The whole team are very much looking forward to seeing them perform over the weekend. It’s certainly going to be one of the biggest and best Birmingham Pride’s ever.”
The Saturdays are set to join BBC Radio 1 Scott Mills, who will be headlining The Nightingale Main Stage with a DJ set on Sunday 3 June. Other artists already confirmed for the June 2/3 weekend of entertainment include Freemasons vocalist Amanda Wilson, Sonia, Lonnie Gordon and Angie Brown. Nineties house stars Sash! and Livin’ Joy have also been confirmed.
Although the general festival site will still be free to the general public, the Pride Entertainment Zone – which includes The Nightingale Main Stage, The Village Inn Cabaret Marquee, the Chic Dance Arena and the Fox Entertainment Zone – will be ‘by ticket only’ for the first time.
Earlybird Pride Entertainment Zone tickets are available until the end of April for just £5 for the day or £8 for the weekend. The tickets will also include other benefits, like fast-track entry at the main security entrance to the general festival site in Birmingham’s Gay Village.
Tickets are available from Birmingham gay bars and clubs or online from kink hookup site
