Maintaining the lead

Blackpool has, for a long time now, been the premier holiday destination for those seeking a thrilling daytime matched by an exciting evening’s entertainment. The Pleasure Beach is packed with white-knuckle (and pink-knuckle) rides and enough silly, enjoyable entertainment to keep the visitor happy no matter what age. In the winter months opening hours are limited but, with the warmer weather just around the corner, this bustling area will become a hive for 7 days of top class fun. For any gay boy (or girl) the Pleasure Beach gives you carte blanche to scream your tits off… should you need an excuse.

Meanwhile, after the spectacular (and some would say quite erotic show) SOAP, those nice folk at the “Beach” see the return in July of the popular HOT ICE spectacular, featuring 28 of the best ice skating performers. If you like a lot of sparkle, fit guys in tight outfits or just love seeing people artistically interpret music while perched on blades… this is the show for you. There are some terrific offers of tickets that combine entrance to the Pleasure Beach as well as to the show. www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com

On an evening, as the Pleasure Beach calms down, a wonder up the Golden Mile to the centre of the town, leads to the gay hotspots and all that they have to offer. The Mardi Gras, Flamingo, Funny Girls, Flying Handbag, Kaos to name but a few…and for those who need to ‘rest’ the saunas are all in close proximity to one and other and easy to find.
Accommodation at the reasonably priced gay B&Bs and hotels are nearly all situated within walking distance of the gay village, however, should you wish to stay near the Pleasure Beach, the complex has it’s own hotel, Big Blue, a large boutique style place with bar and restaurant and rooms overlooking the Big One. www.bigbluehotel.com
