All very true but you have pointed out only a small group of venues, not to mention Manto is now closed. Foo Foo’s closed, axm has lost its late night license, view is up for sale, Molly House and Company Bar are up for sale and now Queer and Chruchills are up for Sale aswell.
Not looking very promising.

Plus dont expect any of the Gay venues to be nice inside. Apart from Taurus,Velvet and Via, all the venues are run down, not looked after by there owners and depressing. Even G-A-Y after only 2 years is now a dump, try sitting in there in the daylight and you will see.

Used the love the Village but i stopped going when the Owners stopped caring….

Thank God I found this, I always had a boxing fetis for the gear and the fighting and of course ring and punch bag. There so many sport fetishes yet boxing is rare in that arena, I thought I was crazy, football (EU or US) or wrestling is normalised now to be arousing even becoming referenced in the stright world, gays find it hot. Boxing is still seen as manly macho can’t be touched! What a dad teaches his son, the classic tough guy sport. I think why its not more common because it still tabooed, soccer has the skinpy shorts, US foot ball has the hulky hunks, wrestling is obviously homoerotic. Boxing is seen as a simple manly sport sorta like say basketball is also non sexual its seen as that innocent and tradional sport. For me boxing is hot because of that, the aggression – like article says “smell of sweat and leather” for us few who do like sexually that and the warrior aspect, the shine of gear, and bit of sportbrand worship and texture just like why guys like scally gear. I’m only 21 and this only major gear fetish I have, hope it becomes more normalised as nowdays mostly old guys, not my thing :/

Good insightful article which articulates some of my experiences (as a gay writer) of dealing with broadcast TV commissioners. They think that the whole ‘gay thing’ has been ‘done’ thanks to Queer As Folk, (which incidentally I had the pleasure of working on 13 years ago now). There are more gay faces on TV these days, but it’s generally the same old individual ‘coming out’ storylines in TV soaps or the cheeky camp humour of Graham N, Alan C or Paul O. We need provocative, aspirational, challenging dramas that reflect how the world has changed for LGBT people in the 13 years since QAF; in particular the massive effect that living a life online has had on how we live, love and connect with others. I’m developing and writing several new gay drama series, but am primarily aiming to produce these shows for web and mobile platforms to reach out directly to a gay audience. Sometimes you just have to take things into your own hands and don’t take no for an answer! Tom :)

I think gay marriage sohlud be voted on by people of the states. It is a moral issue, not a religious one. There are Protestants, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and atheists who oppose gay marriage. It is not like telling someone to pray to Allah 5 x a day or take communion. It is not a central tenet of any one faith, so it does not constitute enforcing one religion on the rest of society, as England did 200 plus years ago. No state ever voted for gay marriage
