New App for Newcastle Pride

50  Visitors at one of the UK’s largest, free LGBT events could have more than pennies in their pocket thanks to the launch of a new app.

As part of this year’s Newcastle Pride festival, which returns from Friday 17th July, organisers, Northern Pride, have launched a special app designed to act as a quick reference guide to the three day event.

This includes full details of when and where all the acts will be playing, including headliners B*Witched and Belinda Carlisle, along with listings for a host of other events taking place in the days and weeks before hand.

The digital download, sponsored by Newcastle’s Business Improvement District NE1, also features tips on where to eat, drink and stay in the city, as well as a number of exclusive offers, discounts and promotions, which could save users money throughout the year.

Stephen Patterson, Director of Communications for NE1, said: “Newcastle Pride is such a big event for the North East and this new app will really help festival goers to make the most of their visit.”

“It is also an ideal platform for us to showcase everything on offer in this vibrant city and we’re delighted to be a part of it.”

Anyone who downloads the app to their smart-phone, tablet or android device will receive regular deals from restaurants, bars, clubs and hotels in Newcastle throughout 2015, including discounted entry into Powerhouse during Newcastle Pride weekend.

Guests attending the festival’s events between Friday and Sunday will also be able to use the app’s special selfie tool to send their pictures directly to the screens surrounding the Main Stage on the Town Moor.

Acts appearing there include girlband B*Witched and 80’s superstar, Belinda Carlisle, as well as actress Heather Peace and X Factor favourites Kitty Brucknell, Lucy Spraggan and Joseph Whelan.

Mark Nichols, chair of Northern Pride, which organises the event, said: “This year’s Newcastle Pride festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with a host of world-class performers and entertainment for all ages.

“The app is an ideal way for people to get involved in the action and ensure they don’t miss a thing throughout the weekend.”

The Newcastle Pride app will be available to download for free via the Pride website, Google Play and the Apple Store from Tuesday (July 7). All proceeds will be used to help ensure that Newcastle Pride can remain free to attend for years to come.
